Last summer my husband's job was relocated and we moved from Iowas to Texas. The process was overhwhelming to say the least. I sort of just ran on adrenalin trying to keep it all together. I started having fainting spells 2 months before we moved. I would get tingly and then just black out. I never got hurt but it was alarming. I had one of these spells while in the check out lane at Target and drove straight to the Urgent Care to get checked out. I had a consistent pain/ pressure under my left rib so they ran an x-ray of my abdomen. Diagnosis: My colon was slow and at that point it was 100% full. so essentially I was told that I was full of sh**.
The tingling continued after we moved and a new doctor in Texas believed that it was due to anxiety. She ran several tests and through an ultrasound I learned that I had a small nodule on my thyroid. In the 9 years since my Hashimotos thyroidistis diagnosis, I had never been offered an ultrasound so this was interesting but no one knows how long I have had the nodule or if it was impacting my health. My new doctor continues to run ultrasounds to watch for growth and luckily ther haven't been any changes.
A few months after moving I began to gain weight at a rapid pace. Some weeks I was gaining 1lb per week. I didn't excercise a lot but I could run 4 miles on a weekend so I was in decent shape. I was already depressed from the move so this weight gain was a huge blow. After months of visting my doctor and being told I should 'watch my portions', the solution fell in my lap....well, ok...my email box. I received a Groupon for Texas Fit Chicks Bootcamp. this is a 5 week program that was started by a woman who was hypothyroid. If that wasn't a sign, I don't know what it.
I am in week 4 of my program and am beginning to see some definition in my arms again. My face is a bit less puffy. So far, my scale reports that I have lost 5 lbs. This is HUGE for me as I haven't seen the scale go down for nearly 5 years. I am relieved that my weight has stopped going up.
I have my official weigh-in and measurement next week so I will keep you posted.
